Website Be More Discover (Dutch/English)

I am an enthousiastic person who is very interested in people and their cultures.

I want to be a volunteer because I want to make a difference to give more meaning to my precence. There is more to life than just work.
Last October and November we travelled through Southern Africa and that impressed me a lot. The culture is very different from here. When people are poor (in our eyes) they are so happy. After this trip I realised that I want to do something for these people.
I had those thoughts also before we went there, but now it's stronger because we have been there.
I searched the internet and I found Be More. After that I went to a Be More day in Utrecht to get some more information about different projects. I choose Bobbi Bear because that project impressed me most. I have also read a few web-logs about this project and spoke with a Bobbi Bear volunteer.

At the moment I have a nice job, but it would be a very meaningful plus for me to go out and really take care of people, that really need all the help they can get; it is something I really would
love to do, and goes beyond "a job".
Furthermore I feel an extra need to do something, when children are being abused, .. Children have hardly any means to defend themselves. By participating in Bobbi Bear, I hope to make a contribution to more justice on our planet.
The work that Bobbi Bear does is very varied, you're never quite sure what will be on your path next. I am appealed by the way it all works; the approach is quite direct, having children tell their stories, traumas through the Bobbi Bear cuddly toy, the tree clinic, and on a longer term, working on aidsprevention.
It is one of the Millenium Goals to stop the spreading of HIV/Aids in 2015 and I absolutely want to
make a contribution to that goal as well.

Children are a country's capital for the future; it is absolutely necessary to take good care of them and lead the way.

For this moment I can't say exactly what my contribution for this project will be, time will tell. I think most important is that we will help these children and really listen to them and care about them.
All together a small contribution, but hopefully with a positive impact.
